Technology and platforms need to be updated regularly for debugging purposes. But, companies are also trying to improve the user experience as the possibilities for technology increases.
If you think back a couple of years, Instagram looked very different (and if you don’t believe us, check out one of our most recent posts for reference). Now whilst you can see the obvious changes to the platform, there are always a couple that can slip under the radar. Once a platform has made an innovative change, most platforms generally will piggyback off the back of it. Stories are a fabulous example of that. They can now be found on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
The moral of the story is that algorithms and interfaces get constantly updated and if you start learning how to utilise these updates immediately, it will show your audience you know what you are doing, which then improves your social media profile and greater utilises the algorithm.
If an update is a brand spanking new update, you’re going to be ahead of the game. So, not many people will be using it and your content will be organically be pushed to more audiences. Basically, the algorithm likes to see people using new features so it can sometimes feel like the aged old saying ‘first in, first served’.
STAY IN ZE LOOP
How do you keep up to date? For all of my time-poor friends (which ha, surprise, is most of us), you will essentially need someone to tell you because Instagram does not. There are a couple of ways to go about finding the right external sources.
There are numerous blogs that offer daily email subscriptions. Each post is written by people who are paid to notice changes on social media (and how great and convenient is that?)! These blog posts and email subscriptions will highlight exactly what is going on and usually how to implement these changes into your routine and platform.
Did you know that recently, there was an update on Instagram where they updated the number of fonts available and effects that highlight the text?
So, when posting your next story, keeping content on-brand doesn’t have to be as hard. If you look up, Instagram font story update you’ll get an idea of how many blogs there are.

The beauty of these blogs is they can send out daily content or weekly summaries. However, there is no element or option for greater interaction, so if you have questions or concerns there are some social media platforms you can look at.
