Hashtags or Hash Browns - which is better for business?

Oh hashtags, how you are an enigma for most business-owners. You see most of our clients that come on board know they ‘HAVE’ to do hashtags and use them but have zero ideas what they do or how they aid (or hinder) your posts.

So do you know what the g-o with hashtags are?

Let's discuss.

A hashtag starts with a # and has a clickable link linked to the word preceding the hashtag. A hashtag is most commonly used as a searchable term that allows others (both your current audience and new followers) to find and engage with your content by searching for that particular hashtag.

For example, if I owned a florist I would use words such as #florist #floristry #flowers etc.

People are also given the opportunity to ‘follow’ hashtags.

Our top tips for hashtags:

  1. Research the hashtag you are wanting to use

  2. Is it already being used a lot? If so, you will be competing with EVERY single post that already uses it.

  3. Is it too broad - could you refine it?

  4. Are your competitors using the exact same hashtags?

  5. Who is posting content with your chosen hashtag/s and what is it of?

  6. Will your image stand out against theirs?

Realistically hashtags when used correctly can increase your engagement whilst attracting new flowers. Using hashtags is an effective tool for growing your online presence.

So have we persuaded you to join the hashtag gang?
